Alpha Sigma History
                   

 
The city of Pittsburgh gained its second undergraduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. on May 15, 1959. On this date ten dynamic young ladies were initiated as members of the Alpha Sigma Chapter at impressive ceremonies at Grace Memorial Church. Soror Mary Jane Page, a past Basileus of Alpha Alpha Omega, and other graduate members conducted the initation ceremony. Soror LaRue Fredrick, past Great Lakes Regional Director, extended a formal greeting to the new Sorors and welcomed them into the Great Lakes Region.
